Memories of past experiences have often resurfaced to the present day and prove to be relevant to current events. “Reflecting Back” is one of those memories. Over the past year, I have been thinking more about past events, people, and personal interactions with others because the future has been so uncertain. When the future is unclear or blurred by current events, I find reflecting back has clarified for me what is important and how to proceed forward.

Mimi Fujino is a printmaker/wire sculpture artist from Pender Island. She has been exploring reduction printmaking since her time at Pacific NW College of Art in Portland, OR, where she earned a BFA degree in drawing/painting. For the past five years, she has also been making whimsical wire vignettes of animals and people.

She has worked in remote areas all over the world for the past 25 years, where many of her images come from. More recently, Mimi has added local images to her portfolio. Her work has been shown in Poland, Malaysia, Antarctica, the USA, and Canada.
